I don\'t care what others think,
I\'ll do what I feel is right.
It\'s my time to shine,
And stand in the spotlight.
You don\'t get a second chance,
There are no continues in the game of life,
So I\'ll live in the here and now,
And quit relying on another\'s sight.
I refuse to be ruled by the ticking clock,
Or be content to run just to stop.
I\'ll leave my mark on history,
Spend some time at the top,
And when my time has come,
My goals will be accomplished
And all of my tasks done.

Outrunning The Thunder
My perception is clearer now
Than it has ever been before.
My path, while not an easy one to follow,
Is the one I have chosen for myself.
I start my journey at night
With only the moon, stars,
And the dull orange glow of street lights
To illuminate the road ahead of me.
The cool air begins to stir,
Its gentle touch bringing to life
The tall grass and trees
That spread across the land.
The trees dance and sway
As they reach towards the sky.
Rain is in the air;
One of many signs that Spring has arrived.
The lights of the city have faded from view,
And the rain that has started to fall
Mixes with my bittersweet tears.
I know n
Skin the color of cappachino,
With eyes like black coffee,
As I stare into my little
Foam cup of mocha
I can see your reflection
Looking back at me with love.
My mind is filled with thoughts,
Thoughts of you and I together again,
And recalling sweet memories
Takes up the time I should be using
To plan out my day.
I can hear your laughter over the
Dull chatter of the people around me.
I feel your hand resting on mine
Instead of the watch around my wrist.
And when I sip my luke-warm mocha,
It is your kiss that I taste.
It\'s amazing what 79 cents can buy you.

Walking through a field of grass that was knee high,
The little girl beside me finally became too eager
To reach the sight just ahead of us to follow at my slow pace.
She hurried ahead into the darkness, and before long
She was in the midst of a million tiny lights that
Flickered and pulsed as they drifted from place to place.
Reaching out, she snatched one of the lights in mid-flight.
She peered into her cupped hands and a look of
Wonderment covered her face when she saw what she had caught.
\"A lightning bug!\" she exclaimed as she ran back to me,
Treasure in hand. She had never seen them before.
\"It\'s so tiny... How did it swa
Did you look towards the stars tonight?
Did you see your life passing by?
You dwell on the past
And focus on what has come before,
Never giving us a fighting chance
To be happy and free.
If only you could see
I still love you and want you by my side
Until the stars fall from the sky
And the sun\'s light fades from sight.
My possible pleasure
Is your potential pain.
It\'s a chance you can\'t take,
Plans you wont make,
A heart you couldn\'t break,
Too worried you\'ll make a mistake.
For better or worse, you\'ve found your fate.
It seems that our love cannot be,
But I\'ll still love you,
Eternally.

You said I wasn\'t romantic enough,
I could never be the one for you.
But have you felt the way my heart beats,
Pounding and racing,
When our eyes meet from across the room?
If I told you how I felt tonight,
Would you want me to leave tomorrow?
If I told you where my thoughts had been,
Would you turn pale and run?
If I confessed my love for you,
Would the feeling be the same?
They say love out lives death,
I pray that is true,
Because I\'m here to say:
\"I don\'t want to live without you.\"

A Friend A Lover And The Truth
Your words are tainted,
Promises broken,
A world of love lies shattered,
Like my heart,
Fallen to the floor.
I believed you when you said
\"I love you\",
What kills me inside is that she did too.
Your whispers are honeysuckle sweet,
Your gaze intense,
But you don\'t realize,
The only thing that can save you now,
Is something that you don\'t feel.
For now I\'ll love you enough for the both of us,
Show you to the door,
Come tomorrow she\'ll know the truth,
And you\'ll know two women\'s scorn.

Metal shards,
Irreparable wounds,
The end is nearing --
Our time is coming soon.
Lights streak past me,
Sound fades to silence,
Rage boils away my blood
On the final push towards destiny.
This pain, soon will end.
One of us will never see tomorrow.
Who it is no longer matters,
As long as I never know another day of sorrow.
The battle consumes all.
You\'ve taken my innocence,
Left me a victim of circumstance,
And now I hear vengeance call.
Like an artist\'s brush,
Steel paints the sky red.
My war is over.
Now the worms are fed.

Footfalls resonate through the forest,
The leaves of ancient oaks rustle.
Time has no meaning to me,
For I am free.
The endless sky is embraced
By towering cliffs reaching high.
Mighty winds cannot move me,
For I am free.
The birds take flight,
Rising to see their coming.
The fire does not frighten me,
For I am free.
They approach quietly,
And try to hide,
But they wont find me,
For I am free.
Hounds cry out,
Lusting for blood,
But they cannot catch me,
For I am free.
They took cousin Bear,
Killed brother Wolf,
Stripped friend Deer of his crown,
And now they try to track me down.
But it is I who will win today, you see
You opened your eyes expecting
To see the sunrise outside
Cloudy skies waited for you
But you didn\'t seem to mind
I don\'t know why you love me
I can\'t see why you care
You\'ve always been there beside me
As we chased our dreams everywhere
We danced within the darkness
To the beat of our own tune
Watched the shooting stars fall down
From the heavens above and outshine the moon
I wouldn\'t know why you loved me
I couldn\'t see why you cared
You\'ve always brought out the best in me
And told me I could go anywhere
From dawn to sunset, baby
I\'ll always be there for you
Our love is unconditional
And I finally see the truth
